「The 2004 ITRI Patent transfer tender」hold by TWTM and ITRI was successfully completed on September 6, 2004. 226 out of 549 patents have been purchased by two domestic companies, total deal amount 120 million NT dollars.

The contents of this Patent transfer tender include industry patents combinations, multi-countries combination and single patents. In the deal 226 patents, contains 33 patents combinations (210), 3 multi-countries combination (6) and 10 single patents. Communication and Opto-electronics domain accounts for 68%, machinery and the aerospace accounts for 18%, materials and chemical industry accounts for 9%. The popular IC technology, the multimedia system, the measurement technology, the memory body controller, the communication transmission, the communication signal processing, image processing, etc. were totally been sold.

From this domestic origination activity, we can see domestic companies’ demand for patents; it also responded that the idea of intellectual property rights has hastened maturely. After acquires these patents, company can expand own patent quantity, establish the patent combination, and utilize these patents to carry on the product or researches and developments again.

This kind of new mechanism can provide a model to domestic juridical person, research centers and universities; even in the future we might unify the domestic correlated patents together to tender. It is believed that can have a bigger benefit to the domestic field, also can set up the technical transaction foundation in Taiwan.

The contents of this Patent transfer tender include industry patents combinations, multi- countries combination and single patents. In the deal 135 patents, contains 16 patents combinations (85), 12 multi- countries combination (22) and 28 single patents. Communication and Opto-electronics domain accounts for 80%, materials and chemical industry accounts for 13%, machinery and the aerospace accounts for 7%. The popular IC technology, the multimedia system, the measurement technology, the memory body controller, the communication transmission, the communication signal processing, and image processing, etc. were totally been sold.
